We’re in the final weeks of the year, and this is such a delightful time. Christmas excitement is at an all-time high, and the city is all lit up with sparkling lights and festive energy. Last year, I made glazed apple biscuits (check it out on my blog here), and this year I went with a Pear & Almond Olive Oil Bread that brings those same bright, holiday vibes. Lightly sweetened, perfect with a cup of hot tea or coffee, and bonus—no kneading required. You already know my recipes are lazy-girl approved!
Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 1 pack fast-rising active yeast
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1.5 cups warm water
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 1 pear, sliced
- Honey for drizzle
Directions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, white sugar, and salt.
- Stir in warm water and olive oil, cover with a towel, and let sit 45 min–1 hr.
- Pour the dough into a greased dish. Drizzle the top with olive oil and arrange the pear slices on top. (I used a glass pan and made a little pear flower)
- Toss brown sugar with almonds and sprinkle over the dough with the pears.
- Bake at 375°F for 45 minutes.
- Drizzle with honey and enjoy!
This bread is subtly sweet, festive, and bright. Add it to your holiday rotation if you want something low lift and fancy for brunch.
Happy baking!
