Apple-tizing Fall-Themed Cake

As September comes to an end, fall makes its entrance as the best season of the year and today I had an strong hankering for all things apple. The aroma that fills the kitchen while this delicious cake bakes is irresistible, totally eclipsing a candle and the recipe is a easy-peasy. The most time-consuming part? Simply slicing the apples – that’s it!

I’ve made apple cake once before by peeling and chopping the apples into the cake mix. But today, I tried something different by just topping the cake with thinly sliced apples in the shape of a rose. Slice the apples, let them soak in boiling water, and watch the magic unfold.

As the cake baked we mixed up a cloudy apple whisky cocktail, perfect way to set the vibe while we decorated for fall and Halloween. Is it a little early for skeletons and bats? Maybe, but not for me! Fall is when I truly come alive, and today was magical.

Give this autumn-themed treat a try and while you’re at it, embrace the season by busting out the cobwebs and jack o lanterns. Happy baking!
